This is a remastered screenshot from the video game Doom. The original size was 320x240 and the final product is 9600x7211. This is the highest resolution Photoshop image I've done to date (although I've done higher 3d rendering).

It is commonly agreed upon by all of humanity that Doom was the greatest game ever made. Okay, maybe not everyone. Doom was a PC game made in 1993 by id software. It was created by John Carmack, John Romero, Adrian Carmack and Tom Hall as well as many others. This is actually not a direct scene from the game but a composite. The Doom guy has only 1 rocket left and a pinky demon stands between him and freedom. If he shoots he's dead. These were some of the best moments in the game.

As you can tell the style matches closely to the original game, but with a slightly different perspective. I used a 3D rendering program to outline how things would appear in the scene to assure the perspective remained correct throughout the creation process.

The original image is 9600x7211 pixels and stored in 7 PSD files.

in PSX DOOM I used to somehow get these goons to bite the barrels instead of me and KABOOM :XD: but also in that same game what was more fun is having multiples of them get into biting each other fights...The new PSXTC they have for the PC does have this...they will bite each other if one bites the other :XD: I couldn't believe it carried over and I was like YUUUSHHH!!!! :highfive:

Because of a bug in the implementation of monster infighting in Doom v1.1 and earlier, monsters will try to commit suicide by attacking themselves if they are injured when they destroy barrels.

A simple explanation for this behavior is as follows: when a barrel explodes, the Doom engine tracks which player or monster caused the barrel explosion. When damaging another object as a result of the barrel explosion, the "source" of the explosion is then passed on to the damaged object. A monster hurt in a barrel explosion will then retaliate against the monster or player that caused the barrel to explode (an example of monster infighting, if the source is another monster).

However, if a monster damages itself in a barrel explosion, it is the cause of its own injury. Doom v1.1 does not check for this special case (it is not a scenario that occurs frequently during normal play). As a result, monsters that injure themselves through a barrel explosion will retaliate against themselves. Monsters such as cacodemons, barons of hell and imps will "tear themselves apart" with their own melee attack. Former humans (or monsters without melee attacks) will "go crazy", firing ahead blindly, possibly causing monster infighting as a result.

;) yes I do remember some of them...there was file out there you could edit the original dos doom2.exe file and you could use it to where monsters of the same type would fight with each other...it was a lot of fun =D But this new Total conversion project that was unleashed containing both DooM PSX & Final DooM PSX with some bonus made levels was just beyond epic...now if someone could ever find out what the answer to my question to this one was....fav.me/d6s0jg3

wow looks amazing without all of the pixels. I remember when doom 1 came out.......long nights playing it. demon slaying good times.

you should of gone with the shotgun rather than the rocket launcher......that way you won't blow yourself up when pinky gets too close.

Did you even look at the picture? He has only 1 rocket, NO SHOTGUN AMMO.

Yep. I did see no ammo but the rocket won't do much because when you fire the rocket in doom 1 at an enemy or objects close to you likes charging pinky here, the rocket kills you . ..... Should have gone with either the brass knuckles or the chainsaw with dealing with pinky here. Save the rocket for a real enemy like a hell baron.

I'm sorry but there IS some distance between him and the monster, so if he just did what a normal human being would do and go back a little bit while firing the rocket launcher he would survive.
